Empowering Women, Transforming Lives – CWJC of Abilene
History and Mission
CWJC of Abilene began as part of the broader Christian Women’s Job Corps movement, a ministry of WMU (Woman’s Missionary Union) that started in 1997 to address the need for job skills training among women in underserved communities. The Abilene branch was established with the vision of offering hope, education, and spiritual guidance to women in the area, especially those facing difficult life situations, including unemployment, poverty, or lack of formal education.
The mission of CWJC of Abilene is to equip women with life skills, job training, and spiritual mentoring, empowering them to achieve self-sufficiency and personal growth. Through a supportive, Christ-centered environment, women are able to overcome obstacles, regain confidence, and discover their God-given potential.
Programs and Services
CWJC of Abilene offers a variety of programs aimed at helping women improve their lives through education, job training, and spiritual development. Some of the key services include:
Job Skills Training: Participants learn essential skills such as resume building, interview techniques, computer literacy, and workplace etiquette.
Life Skills Development: Classes focus on areas like budgeting, time management, goal-setting, and conflict resolution, helping women navigate everyday challenges.
Spiritual Growth: CWJC incorporates faith-based mentoring, Bible study, and spiritual encouragement into their programs to help women grow in their relationship with God and find hope through faith.
Mentorship Program: Each woman is paired with a mentor who offers personal support, guidance, and encouragement as she works toward her goals.
Impact on the Community
Over the years, CWJC of Abilene has made a significant impact on the lives of countless women in the community. Through holistic support, many women have gone on to secure stable employment, pursue higher education, and create a better future for themselves and their families. The organization is deeply rooted in the belief that every woman has a purpose and the potential for success, and their programs are designed to help women realize that.
The stories of transformed lives are a testament to the dedication and love that CWJC of Abilene has poured into the community. Whether it's helping a woman land her first job, teaching practical life skills, or offering spiritual encouragement, CWJC of Abilene is a beacon of hope for women seeking to rebuild their lives.
Looking Forward
CWJC of Abilene continues to expand its reach, offering new programs and finding innovative ways to meet the evolving needs of the community. The organization remains committed to its core mission of empowering women through education, faith, and community, ensuring that the legacy of transformation continues for years to come.
This story reflects the heart of CWJC of Abilene: a place where women find hope, learn valuable skills, and are equipped to create a brighter future.

About Our Classes
We keep our classes small, up to 10 people, giving us more time to invest in each participant. We have two semesters each year, over 8-10 weeks long: a Spring semester and a Fall semester. The classes we offer include: Jobs For Life, Bible Study, Computer Skills, Boundaries, Time Management, Nutrition, Financial Fitness, and MORE!
You will develop a vocational plan, complete a career assessment, set goals, write your resume, have a mock interview, and grow in your confidence along the way.
It is our desire to create a supportive atmosphere, with quality teaching, hands-on learning, and a prayer partner to walk this journey along side of you.
